A recent study conducted by Singapore’s most-loved food delivery service, Deliveroo, revealed that Singaporeans excel in the art of procaffeinating (n): the tendency to not start anything until you’ve had a cup of coffee. Cool beans.
According to our data, people go crazy for coffee on Mondays, which is universally agreed to be the worst day of the week. Interestingly, rather than in the morning, a whopping 62% of orders actually are clocked between 3pm to 5pm to counteract the afternoon slump. Well, better latte than never.
Unsurprisingly, the largest number of coffee cranks can be found in the likes of Raffles Place and Suntec City, making the Central Business District the most brew-tiful zone. As they say, behind every successful city worker is a tall, dark, rich… caffeinated beverage.
Rather than fancy, flavoured concoctions, Singaporeans are found to prefer a good old latte, most often with ice to defeat the heat. In the same vein, the top three favourite java joints are reliable household names Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Old Town White Coffee and third wave roasters Jewel Coffee.
Foodie items that are most ordered alongside the beloved ‘brain juice’ are buttery croissants, mouthwatering muffins, toothsome wraps and killer kaya toast. Bizarrely, salad made the list too….
How do you espresso yourself?
